How to Find an OEM Part Number Before Buying a Used Part
What to photograph, which numbers to compare, and what to send GearHub when searching for a used OEM auto part.
Start with the part you are replacing
If the label or stamped number is accessible, take a clear photo of the complete identifier. Include every letter, digit and suffix. Photograph the whole part as well, so we can see which component the label belongs to. Avoid removing a part just to find a number; ask your installer for help if access requires disassembly.
Compare the complete identifier
Search our catalog using the number, then open the individual listing. Compare the label photos and listing information with your original part. A shortened number or a similar-looking housing is not enough to confirm compatibility. If the numbers differ, send both to us for review before ordering.
Keep the vehicle information together
Have your year, make, model and VIN ready. Porsche Jacksonville’s parts-ordering guidance also asks buyers for their vehicle details, VIN and the part numbers they need. At GearHub, a useful inquiry includes that information, the product link and clear photos of your original part.
If you cannot find the number
Email gearhubzone@gmail.com with the product link, your VIN and any available photos. Tell us which part you need and which side of the vehicle it is for, if relevant. We can review the information with you before purchase.
